Resumo

Summary. The cactus geophyte, Pterocactus gonjianii , an endemic from San Juan province in the Andes of Argentina, is illustrated and its habitat and morphological details are described. Botanical and horticultural notes on this unusual genus of opuntioid cacti are also provided.
