Resumo

Abstract The nature of nucleic acids present in the nucleoids of Epstein‐Barr virus (EBV) was investigated with cytochemical methods. EBV infected cell cultures were embedded in glycol‐methacrylate and thin sections were exposed to DNase and RNase and examined in the electron microscope. The results showed disappearance of viral nucleoids after DNase treatment, which provided evidence that EBV contains DNA, as do other herpes viruses.
