Previously reported disseminated infection has almost invariably occurred in patients with overwhelming pneumonitis (1). We report a case of disseminated P. carinii infection in a patient with AIDS who received aerosolized pentamidine prophylaxis and who had no evidence of pulmonary disease.A 27-year-old homosexual man with AIDS presented in October 1988 with fever, weight loss; progressive mediastinal, hilar, and cervical lymphadenopathy; and a rapidly enlarging liver. From January to September 1988 he had...References1. UngerRosenblumKrown PMS. Disseminated Pneumocystis carinii infection in a patient with acquired immune deficiency syndrome.
