Resumo

Abstract The distribution of the Orowan loops around spherical particles in a dispersion hardened material has been calculated from an analysis dealing with kinetics of the climb of the loops through the dislocation pipe diffusion. The Orowan loop distribution has been converted to an eigen-strain distribution inside the particle. After approximating the eigenstrain with the sum of a constant and a term proportional to the square of a coordinate, the back stress has been calculated by applying an inclusion problem of continuum mechanics. The calculation has been compared with experimental data of a Cu-SiO2 alloy and has been found to be in good agreement.
