ResumoESR spectra of Ca(OH)2:Gd3+ are described and analyzed by a multidimensional Newton-Raphson method which gives a rapid fit to an arbitrary number of experimental data gathered at arbitrary crystal orientations. This system yielded large trigonal and second-order axial spin-Hamiltonian parameters. The near-isotropic g-factors are 1.9917 ± 0.0004. The implication of the other spin-Hamiltonian parameters are discussed briefly.
