Resumo

Intrinsic photoconductivity in single crystals of RbI has been measured at room and liquid-nitrogen temperatures in the 5.5-6.5-eV spectral range. The results show a conduction peak just at the high-energy side of the first absorption band attributed to formation of excitons. The observed current peak is due to a surface effect which could be associated with exciton dissociation at a crystalline surface.
