ResumoThe transformations of anisic acid and methyl anisate by Polystictus versicolor were studied. When anisic acid was added to the culture medium, it was rapidly reduced to anisaldehyde and anisyl alcohol under aerobic condition. In the presence of methyl anisate in the medium, methyl anisate was accumulated and demethylation and hydroxylation of methyl anisate to methyl p-hydroxybenzoate and methyl isovanillate were observed.
