Resumo

The method of cyclotron beam chopping by pulsing the deflector voltage has been established. The system is suitable for half-life measurements in the range from 1 to 100 μsec. The experimental arrangement is described in detail. As a first result the half-life of the three-quasiparticle isomer in 177Ta at 1355 keV has been determined as (5.3±0.5) μsec.
