Resumo

Isomeric 1:1 complexes and higher order complexes are formed between dichloromaleic anhydride and either durene, pentamethylbenzene or hexamethylbenzene in carbon tetrachloride solution. The electron affinities of dichloromaleic anhydride and maleic anhydride as calculated from the charge transfer transition energies of the corresponding complexes are 0·53 and 0·11 ev respectively.
