ResumoThe current study replicates the work of Church, Burke, and Van Eynde (1994) by assessing the values, motivators, and intervention activities of 388 Organization Development practitioners in order to understand the evolution of individual practitioner perceptions of the field. Values of the field today revealed four factors: Employee Welfare, Collective/Community Welfare, Business Effectiveness, and Best Practices. Practitioners in the current study ranked values related to employee welfare as the most important, while practitioners in the 1990’s ranked values related to business effectiveness as the most important. Motivators of the field today revealed two factors: Social Action and Personal Influence. Practitioners in this study and the previous study ranked motivators related to social action as the most important. The most commonly reported intervention activity was providing training to employees. These results are compared to the results of Church and colleagues (1994) to identify trends over time in the field of OD. This work contributes to the formation of a collective understanding of the current state of the field of Organization Development and the implications for the continuing evolution of the field.
