Resumo

The purpose of the present study is to analyze numerically the developing convection in a vertical tube partially filled with porous medium. The SIMPLEC algorithm combining the techniques of ADI and SOR is used in this study. The numerical results show that when Reynolds number increases, the hydrodynamic entrance length and thermal entrance length become longer. Because the porous medium exist, the local Nusselt number of fluid with Re=100 has slight convex behavior at Z=0.8. When Prandtl number increases, the hydrodynamic entrance length and thermal entrance length become longer. For Pr=7, the local Nusselt number of fluid has a slight rising near Z=0.7 because the porous medium exists.
