Multiple disorders can result in gastroparesis, which is defined as delayed passage of gastric contents into the intestine in the absence of mechanical obstruction. Metabolic disease, such as diabetes, and surgical procedures, for example, vagotomy, are frequent causes, although, in many patients, gastroparesis is idiopathic. 1.
