The use of adjuvant chemotherapy after primary surgery or radiotherapy, or both, has improved survival statistics for patients presenting with localized disease (1-3). Recent reports have emphasized the occurrence of central nervous system (CNS) metastases in long-term survivors treated with (1) or without (4) adjuvant chemotherapy and have recommended CNS prophylaxis to prevent such recurrences. We undertook the present investigation to better define the prevalence of CNS relapse in patients achieving remission of their primary tumor. The clinical and autopsy records of patients with...References1.
