Resumo

The dynamics of two mutually coupled but nonidentical semiconductor lasers are studied experimentally, numerically, and analytically for weak coupling. The lasers have dissimilar relaxation oscillation frequencies and intensities, and their mutual coupling strength may be asymmetric. We find that the coupled lasers exhibit a form of localized synchronization characterized by low amplitude oscillations in one laser, but large oscillations in the second laser.
