Satellite Communication Systems

After the success of ERS-1, the first European Remote Sensing Satellite, the European Space Agency (ESA) is at present developing the second generation of satellites aimed at observation of the Earth and its environment ENVISAT is the first satellite of this second generation. It will carry a payload of Optical and Microwave Instruments. The present paper will present an overview of the instruments, their design and their performance characteristics.
