Resumo

1) The thermal behaviour of the population transfer cross-sections induced in collisions between mercury atoms and He, Ar and Xe is studied in the range 300 K-900 K for 3D2 to 1D2, 3D1, 3D3 and for 1D 2 to 3D2, 3D3 transfers. 2) In connexion with the theoretical calculations of D. Vienne-Casalta et al. (J. Physique 41 (1980) 503 and preceding paper) special emphasis is set on the study of tensorial relaxation of the 1D2 and 3 D 1 levels and to population, orientation and alignment transfers between these levels. The corresponding cross-sections are given at room temperature for collisions with all rare gases and the thermal behaviour of the relaxation of 1 D2 level and of population transfer between 1D 2 and 3D 1 is studied Experimental results are discussed and compared to theoretical predictions.
