CASES of trichophytia profunda (kerion Celsi) with severe symptoms of intlamniation are often accompanied by acute exanthemata of rying appearance, all of which, however, are closely connected i the primary focus. This is especially true in children. These exanthemata often spread rapidly over large areas of the surface of the skin and show a pronounced symmetry.'I'hc eruptions are accompanied hy generalised symptoms, more or less pronounced, such as fever, swelling of the lymph-glands and spleen, and more rarely joint affections. An exsinnniition of the blood reveals distinct leucocytosis. In the majority of cases the so-called lichen trichophyticus is found characterised by small perifollicular pale or deep red-coloured papules especially localised to the cliest and abdomeu. It may easily be mistaken for lichen scrofulosoruni.Sometimes eruptions are found which resemble measles and scarlet iever, and have very pronounced generalised symptoms. No less conspicuou.sare symmetrically arranged papules and nodes that in localisation and appearance bear a strong resemblance to the multiform erythema and erythema nodosnm.Various other clinical pic-tures are seen, but the above cited are the most important ones.*As a matter of fact these exanthemata have been observed bofore, but the possibility of their lieing due to tlu> primary trichophytia has not been considered.'I'his is quite natural.First, tbey are quite * In this eoiintry, where trichophytia profundn.is rather common, especially in tlie cattle-fiirniiiig diatnet, there is ample opportunity of studying the exanthematii. In former ai'tiuleB written for the Tidnsl-rift for den Norsl-e Lsegefovvnhig, 1M19, I have mentioned a conpte of cases of liclien ti'iehophyticiis.Since then we have had under treatment several different forms of the disease.Several [.laperB on this disease have also been published in Denmark, among others, see Rascli."
