Resumo

We report the solid-state structure, electrochemical properties, and photochemical properties of 1 and 2. The single-crystal X-ray structure shows that 1 assembles into densely packed columnar π-stacks. 2 is observed as a racemic mixture of atropisomers in the solid state. The oxidation potential of 2 is similar to that of triphenylamine (∼1 V). Both 1 and 2 show strong fluorescence at 422 and 458 nm, respectively.
