Resumo

Abstract The surface “barrier”, the diamagnetic magnetization, the residual flux and the critical current of Nb 3 Zr and NbTi wires in transverse fields can all be enhanced by a factor of ≈ 3 by superimposing an axial magnetic field. This enhancement arises mainly because the pinning force density at the surface and in the bulk increases as B n when B ⪡ H Ce with n ≈ 0.7 in Nb 3 Zr.
