ResumoThis essay analyses some brazilian films launched during the 1990's, particularly Carlota Joaquina (1995, Carla Camurati), O Quatrilho (1995, Fábio Barreto) Terra Estrangeira (1995, Walter Salles), Jenipapo (1996, Monique Gardenberg) and O que é isso, companheiro? (1997, Bruno Barreto). In spite of stylistic differences, this article shows that these films have a very important common characteristic: they were syntonized with the globalization process.
