Abstract Six deuterated androstanediols were synthetised. The position of deuterium atoms on the molecule were checked by mass spectrometry and 1 H or 13 c nuclear magnetic resonance. The per cent of d 0 , d 1 ,… d n ‐molecules were calculated. The use of such labelled molecules in the fields of isotopic dilution‐mass fragmentography as carriers and/or internal standards is discussed.
