Starting from the analyses of na experience on th teaching of muscular calligraphy, happened in the Primary School and Teacher Schhol of Instituto de Educacao (Rio de Janeiro, 1930’s), this article intends to discuss the construction of a rational didactic of writing, based on new school discourse.
