Resumo

A strain of diploid oats, Avenn stl-igosn Schreb. (2n = 14) C.I. 4748, was crossed with its autotetraploid form (2n = 28) produced by colcl~icine treatment. T h e F, triploid ss were reoularlv forrned. I L1 i This plant proved to be heterozygous for a gene which in the recessive condition was responsible for partial desynapsis. Siinilar inutations causing ineiotic irregularity have been found in many species, including the following grasses: maize (Beadle, 1933), wheat (Li et nl., 1945) and barley (Enns and Larter, 1960).
