For patients at risk for infection with human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), however, antiviral agents do not appear to be the optimal treatment of chronic type B viral hepatitis in those patients who may be simultaneously infected with hepatitis delta virus (2). We report eight cases of severe liver disease due to hepatitis B virus and concurrent hepatitis delta virus infections in patients treated with recombinant alpha-2-interferon, 5 MU three times a week for 6 months. All patients...References1.
