Resumo

In this work the reduction of N2O on a polycrystalline Pt electrode which was partly or completely covered by a monolayer of Pb, Cd or Tl atoms was studied. It was found that the reaction depends on the fraction of surface left uncovered by metal atoms. At high coverage the maximum of the reduction current appears closer to the weakly bonded hydrogen region. As the concentration of metal decreases, the voltammograms become more like those of a clean electrode in an acidic solution.
