ResumoAn exceedingly fast heart rate was noted, first in utero and again at birth; the presence of auricular fibrillation was confirmed by an electrocardiogram at 2 hours of age. The fibrillation persisted throughout the infant's five months of life despite the administration of digitalis and 2 trials of quinidine administration. Postmortem examination confirmed the diagnosis of endocardial fibroelastosis.
