Resumo

1. The larger ribosomal RNA's from eleven species of animals were examined for response to heat-treatment. 2. It was found that Protostomian animals have the larger rRNA's of the insect type which is characterized by dissociation of the molecule to an 18 S component upon heating. 3. All the Deuterostomian animals that were used were distinguished from Protostomia by having the larger rRNA's which degrades, upon heating, in an unorderly manner.
