ResumoIn a TVR (television-röntgen) system for monitoring the X-ray field in pendulum therapy equipment, the chief technical problems are those of sensitivity, resolution and contrast. Although the sensitivity requirement in a TVR system for therapy is more easily satisfied than in a TVR system for diagnosis, the fluoroscopic screen luminance level through a patient, even with X radiation at 200 kV and 20 mA, can be as low as 0·1 apostilb (=0·01 foot lamberts), which is at least 100 times lower than the luminance level usual in a television studio. A TVR system therefore requires exceptional sensitivity.
