Resumo

This work presents an analysis of the vibration modes of a silica horn–fiber Bragg grating device, which is used for different applications in photonics. The analysis, based on the finite elements method, shows the different acoustical regimes for the excitation of flexural and longitudinal waves in the fiber. Using one single device, experimental results support the analysis by showing the change of the FBG reflectivity, an effect that happens when flexural waves are present, and also by showing the modulation of the FBG, an effect that is caused by longitudinal waves.
