Resumo

The use of copper-plated cast iron rings is suggested as a means of preventing “scuffing” in internal combustion engines and tests are described which support the practicability of this suggestion. The tests indicate that all the rings on a piston must be copper-plated to prevent rapid wear of the copper should an unplated ring scuff the liner.
