Most deposits of fossil leaves, in volcanic-sedimentary layers of the strato-volcano of Cantal (Massif Central, France), usually ascribed to Pliocene-Villafranchian, are attributed to the Upper Miocene by KAr dating. In addition, a strong cooling of the climate of the Cantal is noted between 10 and 6.5 m.y. La plupart des gisements de feuilles fossiles, dans les strates volcano-sédimentaires du strato-volcan du Cantal (Massif Central, France), habituellement donnés comme Pliocène à Villafranchien, relèvent du Miocène supérieur d'après leur datation absolue KAr. Il est d'autre part décelé un fort refroidissement du climat du Cantal entre 10 et 6,5 millions d'années.
