S 4 N , a new tridentate ligand with alternating S and N atoms has been obtained from S 4 N 4 . The reaction of S 4 N 4 with cis ‐tCl 2 (NCPh) 2 leads to deep purple PtCl(S 4 N 3 ) in which the terminal S atoms and the central N atom of the ligand are coordinated to the Pt atom.
