ResumoAbstract An enzyme system which catalyzes the O 2 dependent release of 14 CO 2 from nicotinic acid-7- 14 C is present in tobacco roots. The enzyme is not present in tobacco leaves and stems. The nature of reaction catalyzed and its tissue distribution suggest that this enzyme may be involved in nicotine biosynthesis.
