ResumoDrug-eluting stents (DES) have revolutionised interventional cardiology. Their high efficacy in prevention of restenosis means that DES are the default strategy for coronary interventions. However, restenosis still occurs after implantation of DES and remains a major therapeutic problem.1–4 Although satisfactory early results can be obtained with different treatments, the long-term outcome for these patients is fairly poor. The question of which is the best treatment for restenosis after implantation of DES remains unresolved, but repeat DES implantation is frequently advocated.
