ResumoHeavy damage of the common reed Phragmites australis (Cav.) Trin. ex. Steud. by gall-forming arthropods in water bodies within the Chernobyl NPP inner (10-km) exclusion zone were under study. Two mite species of the family Tarsonemidae, Steneotarsonemus phragmitidis (Schlechtendal, 1898) and S. gibber (Suski, 1970), were detected and identified as gall-producers. Cases of lesion of common reed caused by larvae of gall-producing fly of the family Chloropidae, the genus Lipara (Me3gen, 1830), are considered as well.
