A historical bibliographic review in presented in which texts and documents are used as sources of information. Basically, two facets related to the theme are addressed: the care to users of mental health services according to the orientation and principles of the Psychiatric Reform; and the historical aspects concerning home visits, reaching a point where these facets meet.
