ResumoA method for collection of camel semen by electroejaculation has been described for the first time. The volume of the ejaculates obtained was slightly lower than that obtained using an artificial vagina. The sperm count was considerably higher, but other parameters including pH, percentage of live sperm and sperm dimensions were comparable to those of ejaculates collected by the artificial vagina. The camel spermatozoon is generally smaller than those of other animals. The head is somewhat elliptical in shape and slightly tapering at the base. Mean sperm dimensions for the head, middle piece and tail in μm were 5.5, 6.9 and 35.6 respectively; total sperm length was 48.0 μm.
