Resumo

Abstract The author traces the connections between John Ford's The Searchers (1956) and Clint Eastwood's The Outlaw Josey Wales (1976), ultimately claiming that, although the similarities between the two are striking, Eastwood's film reverses the pattern of Ford's film, thus making it a particularly useful prism through which to compare the different cultural values of the 1950s and 1970s.
