Resumo

The pre-switching, non-linear current-voltage characteristics in amorphous forms of boron and silicon are analyzed. The role played by Joule heating and its effect on switching characteristics is investigated. It is demonstrated that during switching, a conducting filament, through the semiconducting film, is formed.
