Resumo

Applications of selective pulse experiments in high-resolution solid state NMR are explored. It is demonstrated that selective experiments are useful for setting initial conditions for exchange-type experiments and for the simplification of spectra by selective excitation or saturation. A careful analysis of sideband-selective excitation in magic angle spinning experiments is presented. It is demonstrated that excitation of an entire sideband family via a single sideband is not possible. However, saturation of a complete family via selective excitation can be used to simplify overlapping spectra.
