Resumo

Degradation of chromatin by micrococcal nuclease is activated in the presence of ethidium bromide. This activation is shown by an increase in the rate of appearance of acid soluble material and by a more rapid conversion of chromatin toward mononucleosomes. Relaxation of chromatin structure is suggested as the mechanism responsible for this activation.
