Abstract The theory and experimental data are presented for a spatial resolution enhancement technique for use with a linear self-scanning photodiode array. The technique utilizes the photodioidc geometry and the intensity profile of the image to determine image positions to sub-diode accuracy. The theory can be used to deduce an unknown image profile by translating the image across two photodiodes.
