Faint Members of the Pleiades Group. van Maanen, Adriaan Abstract Two pairs of plates with intervals of 15 and 19 years, respectively, taken at the Newtonian focus of the 100-inch reflector, have yielded proper motions which revealed in a region 40' by 30' around Alcyone more than two dozen new members of the Pleiades group. The photographic magnitudes of the new members range from 12.4 to about 17.5. The observations indicate that the maximum of the frequency-curve of apparent magnitude has not been passed. This is not surprising, however, since the absolute photographic magnitude of the faintest stars identified with the group is about +12, while in the immediate neighborhood of the sun I have found the photographic maximum of the luminosity-curve to be about +14.5 Publication: The Astrophysical Journal Pub Date: November 1941 DOI: 10.1086/144346 Bibcode: 1941ApJ....94..399V full text sources ADS | Related Materials (14) Part 1: 1919CMWCI.167....1V Part 2: 1933ApJ....77..186V Part 3: 1938ApJ....88...27V Part 4: 1921ApJ....54..237V Part 5: 1921ApJ....54..347V Part 6: 1922ApJ....56..200V Part 7: 1922ApJ....56..208V Part 8: 1923ApJ....57...49V Part 9: 1923ApJ....57..264V Part 10: 1925ApJ....61..130V Part 11: 1927ApJ....66...89V Part 13: 1942ApJ....96..382V Part 14: 1944ApJ...100...31V Part 15: 1945ApJ...102...26V
