Resumo

The classical power expansion for the transmitted wave as a function of the wavenumber, k, is evaluated to several orders in k. This procedure yields very general formulae, not only for the dominant terms in the transmission cross-section σ (term in k4) and the scattering pattern F (term in k2), but also for the first correction terms, which introduce an additional k2 dependence. The formulas are valid for arbitrary apertures, and demonstrate the influence of (i) the wave's angle of incidence on σ and F, and (ii) the scattering direction on F.
