ResumoThe purpose of this essay is to identify and discuss critically some of the fundamental concepts of the womanist philosophy of Anna Julia Cooper and their use in the current understandings of and approaches to Africana womanism. To do this, I will use categories from Clenora Hudson-Weems—definitional typology of Africana womanism. In addition, I will conduct my analysis within an Afrocentric framework as defined and developed by Molefi Kete Asante.
