Resumo

The article deals with the comparison of the Lepidoptera of natural and exploited peat bogs of Lithuania. The research was carried out in Čepkeliai raised bog, Baloša and Palios peatlands during 1999. 221 Lepidoptera species was recorded in Čepkeliai raised bog, 203 in Baloša peatland, and 170 in Palios peatland. Baloša and Palios former peat bogs were revealed to show the species composition characteristic of forests and meadows. The transformation of peat bogs was disclosed to lead to the decrease or extinction of tyrphobiontic and tyrphophilous Lepidoptera species. So tyrphoneutral Lepidoptera species predominated in Baloša and Palios peatlands, while tyrphophilous and tyrphobiontic – in Čepkeliai raised bog. The composition of the species showed the Lepidoptera communities of Baloša and Palios peatlands to be unstable and of the secondary origin.
