ResumoIntercalation compounds of α-zirconium phosphate with propylamine, loaded from 40 to 60% of the ion exchange capacity and containing up to 5 water molecules per unit formula, have been investigated by admittance measurements at temperatures between 20 and −50°C. At 20°C and with increasing amine loading, the conductivity of the pentahydrated compounds ranges from 1.2 to 0.6 mS cm−1; it decreases by about one order of magnitude when three water molecules are lost and becomes about 10−8 S cm−1 for the monohydrated compounds. The conductivity data are parameterized on the basis of the Arrhenius equation: activation energies (from 9.1 to 17.1 kcal/mol) and pre-exponential factors are found to be linearly correlated and strongly influenced by water and amine content.
