ResumoMachado de Assis and Germano Almeida are representative writers in the literary scene in their countries, which besides having significant literary works, engaged in reflection of the construction of the literary system of their countries and participated in discussions about the training process. Thus, this paper aims to investigate the characteristics of these processes in both countries based on the reflection of the works The posthumous memoirs of Brás Cubas and The last will and testament of Senhor da Silva Araújo.
