ResumoThe g-factor of the 4.25 MeV 4+ state in 20Ne has been measured to be g = −0.10(19). The large transient magnetic fields acting on high-velocity Ne nuclei traversing iron have been employed. The strong reduction of the g-factor in comparison to the 2+ state (g = +0.54(4)) is not expected for a T = 0 state in a self-conjugate nucleus.
