Abstract The originators of the “latex fixation test” for rheumatoid arthritis have observed that modifications of their original procedure can increase the number of positive results to 90 per cent of rheumatoid patients without increasing the frequency of false positive reactions. An ammonium sulfate fraction of the patient's own serum serves as the “reactant,” eliminating the necessity of using commercially prepared gamma globulin.
